For all hosting accounts you have the option of one dedicated IP during signup.
Because there is a shortage of IP addresses, ARIN requires valid justification for issuing IP addresses. All our IP space requires valid justification from each client as to what it is used for so when we have a need for more space we may provide this to ARIN.
We can only assign additional IPs if what you are doing cannot be achieved with a shared IP.
Two most commonly used justifications are:
1) New device on the web (like a dedicated server or virtual private server); or
2) Domain name servers
Almost anything other than these two reasons are not valid justifications.
Note:
- SEO: SEO purposes is not a valid reason. See Myth About Google and Shared IP's , question 5.
- SSL: SSL is no longer a valid reason as SNI allows multiple certificates on a shared IP.
